Authorities work the scene where Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger was in a motorcycle crash Monday in Pittsburgh. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/pgStory?contentId=5688350&pageNumber=16NFL quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who won the Superbowl last year was in a serious motorcycle crash yesterday. Because the law in Pennsylvania does not require one to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, he wasn't. He has a broken jaw, broken sinus cavity, lost all his teeth, basically numerous injuries to his head, although the doctor was saying it didn't look like serious brain damage. He also injured his knees when he fell to the ground. It sounds like he will recover from the crash, but I wonder if his football career is over? Too bad to ruin it over something so stupid, because I think he was only about 24 or so. They showed an interview from last year on TV this morning, where he was talking about not wearing a helmet because it made you feel "more free." ~Michelle

I heard about that on the news. That motorcycle is a wreck and I imagine he is too. Yikes! It's not cool not to wear a helmet. I think Pennsylvania better change their laws. That's horrible! It should be manditory "everywhere" to wear a helmet. I've been on a motorcycle when I was in my late teens. I had a black leather jacket, motorcylce riding rebel boyfriend. I was a passenger on his bike and wore a "purple" helmet. I still remember the colour. I mean who can forget purple?! lol! I hope he heals quickly and that his career isn't over.

According to news reports I heard it USED to be the law in Pennsylvania to wear a helmet, but they got rid of it a few years ago. I'm not sure why they would do that. It just makes no sense.
When I was growing up my dad had a motorcycle and we never rode it without a helmet. I really enjoyed the motorcycle, but it's not something I would ever ride in city traffic.
