Smitty's
« on: February 04, 2006, 01:22:16 AM »

Russ and I came across this place yesterday after we went to the Tecate Grill purposely so that I could have a chance to use my coupon from the coupon book that I have (note to self, NEVER buy 2 kinds of coupon books!!), and they were renovating their floor so we couldn't get in there...sigh.

Since I had never been to a Smitty's, I wanted to try that place out instead. Even though I had a coupon for it at home, I figured it would be good to see this place. The one we went to had a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE square shaped fish tank that was about the size of 2 big tables put together-it was so cool and I wished we were seated near it.

The menu is really tasty looking-especially with the all day dinners, lunches and breakfasts-SO many choices. I wanted something warm and hearty so I got the Hot Turkey Sandwhich which came with real mashed potatoes, gravy and carrots..it was SOOOOOOOO tasty-even better than Humpty's!!

I quite enjoyed the food there and would really like to try out their breakfasts one day-even though I am not a breakfast eater, their menu looks SO appetizing!! Smiley

I haven't been to Smitty's in YEARS.  That used to be a very common destination for my family to eat at when we went on holidays when I was a child.

Actually, I think I DID go to Smitty's once recently with Donna when I had a blonde moment about something and ended up in her part of town first thing in the morning with nowhere to go. Roll Eyes

Michelle-I think where you ended up going to with Donna was HUMPTY'S near her house, and OMG that place is such a dive. I was with her and Dana in the car when Dana was hanging out here a few summers ago-I had to go pee SO bad and walked in there around midnight-well the shadiest people were in that restaurant and crowds of no gooders were outside standing around-I ran to pee and the bathroom was SO disgusting...needless to say, I ran to the car and hopped inside with the doors being LOCKED on impact! lol

No, the place we went to was in the mall and I'm pretty sure it was Smitty's.

Ah oy I have been to that Humpty's location twice! once with my dad when we were in Calgary for something and then at like 2  on a Saturday morning and the place was absolutely packed with people; of course I was with a friend and the KIL crew.

I'm not wild about Smitty's either.

Smitty's has awesome belgian waffles, I like their breakfasts, and it's a good place to get a cheap full-service meal -- my dad's friend owns the one in Jasper so it's a friendly place to go when there's nowhere to go.  Denny's is the BEST!  I love it sooooo much, and don't go there often enough at all.

My Dad went to Smitty's for lunch on his birthday and said that he really liked it-he liked that he could order a breakfast item from their all day breakfast menu. He really liked his dish so now I am curious to see what kind of tasty stuff they have. Even though I read their menu, things always look better in pictures!!

I quite like the fried perogies from Smitty's though..very nummy with the sauce too!!

Smiley  There's a Smitty's in The Lloydmall in Lloydminster that we go to everytime we take my hubby's mom and dad with us. His mom love's their Liver and Onions and his dad loves their Potatoe Pancakes. My hubby usually gets liver and onions aswell(yuck), me I get a burger or ham & eggs. The food is good and give lots. It is uaually really busy there, but if you have to wait a bit it is worth it.

Liver and onions? Please tell me this isn't for breakfast!! Yech!! Sandy-what are potato pancakes? Are they just literally made with potato instead of flour or round versions of hashbrowns?
