Icy Cold Saturday

Smiley Hi all, yeah it's even colder today than Friday. It was -34 this afternoon and that was without the wind-chill. Someone said it was -50 with the wind-chill which is down right horrible.  I am feeling better but still not quite up to  par. I am sure this icy cold weather isn't helping.
We had to go get some groceries today, so off we went to Vermilion. We stopped at the coop hardware store and got a new humidifier as our old one sounds like it is ready to explode. It has been going non-stop since the first snow. The air in our house is really dry so we need a humidifier, otherwise the static electricity just about electrocutes us. Turning the light's out creates sparks like crazy, not to mention walking across the rug. Roll Eyes So we got a bigger and hopefully better humidifier. Then we stopped at the new "Bargain" Store that opened up in Vermilion, it's taken the place of the local Saan store. We bought some dvd cases there as Jim is putting our vhs home movies on dvd. Our tapes are getting so old and they are deteriorating. We then got our groceries and then headed back home.
Jim has a couple of steaks broiling for supper and we have a couple of potatoes in the microwave. We are having whole mushrooms with that for supper. No dessert. We have to start getting back to healthy food.
Tonight I am watching some tv and maybe playing my game. You all keep warm, keep safe, and have a great day, bye for now. Smiley

I know what you mean about the static electricity in the house. We're in the same boat here, Sandy. I remember back in the autumn though. I would be wearing my crocs outside and when I stepped on the outside rubber mat by the back door and reached for the aluminum door handle, I would get zapped! I was sooooo afraid to touch that handle. Tongue It's really funny though, the other day I was touching nose to nose with one of the kittens and ZAP....we were shocked and the poor kitten ran off. I suppose we should get a humidifier too but I think we'll just put up with it rather than spend the money. It's so very hot and dry at work that my throat is dry and I cough. I take my water bottle to whatever station I'm working at.

Today, we got groceries and I did laundry and vacuumed the house. We took Kacee (the female kitten) to the vets to get her incision checked. I was worried about her because where the incision was it was swollen. Apparently it's nothing to worry about. Some kittens have a reaction to the sutures. If it gets worse or turns red, I have to get her back in but it should be okay. She's so petite and the swelling shows up more because there's just no fat there.

Have a great evening~~~ Smiley
