You know I was SO mad at my stylist before I left for Toronto...I booked an appointment with him for Saturday afternoon at 2:30...all was well-I have gone to him 2 summers in a row to get my layers redone and he has been fantastic AND he is the owner so it is even better cause he knows his stuff. Anyways, I was in the south and had to travel North west because of my appointments...I came upon some pretty bad traffic and knew I would be late. I called the salon around 2:35 saying that I would be there in about 7 minutes (there was a break in the traffic and I ended up being right around the corner of the area)....the receptionist said it would be no problem so that was fine. About 5 mins later, and this was just as I was about to get in the parking lot, she called and said that I couldn't have my hair done cause the guy had an appointment at 3:00...I told her I was right there but they said NO. I was so pissed off cause I was only a total of 10 minutes late!! Then I got to thinking, usually when he does my hair, it takes close to an hour-if that was the case, why did he book someone at 3:00?? I bet he would have rushed my hair cut and done a horrible job just to get me out of there for his next client. So in a way it was a good thing I didn't go...I booked the appointment for this Wednesday but I will call in and tell them that I have long hair and need more time just incase....but I guess I now know that you cannot EVER be late to the hairdresser-geeze!~

I'm never late ~ always early for appointments. I feel sorry for my hairdresser. People just walk into the salon with no appointment and expect to be taken in right away. They get all nasty and everything. I would never take the chance that she has an opening, I always book ahead. My old hairdresser took an hour to cut my hair and my present one takes 15 minutes to do the same thing. I've mentioned this before somewhere that I don't go to her anymore because she poked my eyelid with the scissors. Crazy woman! It takes an hour to cut hair and you get poked. I just got my hair cut and layered a few days ago. I love it! I have shoulder length hair, but my hair was so thick and heavy and the layering has made it so lighter and manageable.

I've gone to the place in the same strip mall as my school a couple times for a trim. I walk in there to BOOK an appointment for later in the day and she's always like, "Okay, come on back..."
And I'm thinking - NOW?!? I was just planning to book something.
But the last time I went she made a mess of my layers, so I'm not going back. I can't imagine an hour for a CUT unless that includes washing and styling as well.
When I get foil highlights that is the most torturous process in the world because it takes well over an hour just to get them put in. It's worth it though because the cap style highlights pull the hair right out of your head. Okay, that torture is even worse!

An hour to get hair cut. When I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago it took well over an hour. But my hair is curly, and was down past my shoulders. It was also, frizzy and matted. My stylist's is a walk-in because he is right in Dresden. I love my hair now, it is short and spikey in the back, and realli slick and longer in the front with a side part.

Michelle, you should try going to my guy for layers-he is an expert with the longer hair and makes your hair look like it hasn't even been chopped even though you know it has!!! I remember witnessing my aunt go through cap highlights and she forced my mom to do them to her while we were in Italy...the screams that came out of my aunt's mouth every time a strand of hair came out-oh my gawd....it was a nightmare just listening to-my aunt has a very sensitive scalp so she was nuts to get her hair done like that...and the funny thing is, once you have that cap on and some of your hair through it, it is too late to turn back! I would never EVER do that!
Ok and Lynn, that former dresser of yours SOUNDS crazy-eye poking and all!!!!I love going to my guy cause he has a huge chair that is a thing from outer space, it is wide and big and goes really high-not just the typical ones, and he puts on his own cowprint thingie that protects your clothes....it is pretty wild stuff!! lol I just think that since I was a good customer of his (I tip $20 ON TOP of his $70 fee), he should have been able to work with my hair even though I was 10 mins late! Tomorrow I am gonna get there EARLY and better not have to wait more than 10 minutes till it is my turn! lol

I don't really like going to the hairdressers, it seems like I wind up having somewhat of a bad experience The last two times I went to the hairdresser I went to one located at the Bay and the girl was kind with me. I went in for a walk in appoitment one time at Zellers and I'm never, ever going back-as some of you might know (Lisa, Maria) my hair is fairly thick so when the hairdresser was working on my hair using a comb, it decided to break and the hairdresser laughed then I was charged extra because of my hair being thick....ugh, what a hellish time.

I do feel for people with thick hair-I remember a friend of mine in highschool couldn't ever brush her hair because it was so thick and would poof up like cotton candy, and then she could never put it in a pony tail cause it would drag her neck down so badly! Thankfully my hair has never been that thick or too thin....of course today my dresser did it and he did an awesome job as usual-you should see the hair that goes flying when he cuts my hair...he cuts about 5 inches off from the crown and that is A LOT of hair, especially when it is coming in all directions....I got him to cut about 2 inches off from the bottom but I think he cut another inch extra, that is ok cause it still looks good but feels REALLY short and super light...layers are the best invention ever!!! My hair got flatironed and feels like absolute silk that I don't want to wash it-lol I don't look good in bone straight, stick to the head hairstyles so I may just have to wash it anyways, but if I curl it, I think it will be almost up to my shoulders which is pretty short!!! Alicia, a thing to help with thick hair that gets knotted is spray on conditioner....you should be using a lot more product after you come out of the shower-mousse that is softening can help to smooth your hair plus a few frizz tamers...this way you won't have to deal with pesky hairdressers-I mean take it from me, after all I have done a pretty damn good job on your hair at least a few times!

I guess that I can consider myself lucky. I've got super straight hair. My stylist was amazed. Hers apparently is very curly and it's takes her a long time in the morning to straighten it. My hair has always been thin but the last few years (actually I don't know how long) but it's gotten thicker. The layering I love because it really lightens my hair and gets rid of the heaviness.

My hair hasn't been knotted in several months after my sis in law cut it for me in February.

My hair is very fine, but I have a LOT of it. I should check out your stylist, Lisa. I've been cheaping out and just getting trims but after the latest butchering, I may have to bite the bullet and pay for a decent cut again!
I always had straight hair and wanted curly, whereas my curly haired friends always wanted straight. I guess it's kind of a grass is always greener type thing.

I love my hairdresser! He was in Brokeback Mountain, so I get to hear all the stories about that.
My hair if fairly curly, so it's apparently pretty hard to cut. And taking an hour is pretty normal, I think.

Michelle, you SHOULD try out my guy even though he is pricey-he does such a great job, he will give you layers that don't even look like layers when your hair is super straight, THAT is good technique! Ever thought of having a perm to get more volume if that is what you wanted? I asked but he told me that perms are better for those who haven't had many and for me it has been maybe 15 years but he still said I shouldn't-sighhhhhhhhh,
Amy your stylist is from Brokeback?? OOOOOO spill the beans would ya?

From Brokeback? He was just an extra in the film when they filmed at Ranchmans. I think he was sitting at the bar, but I'm not sure, I'd have to watch the movie again. But apparently Jake and Heath were awesome guys to be around. I can't remember any stories he told me, I'd have to ask him again!
Anyways, I got my haircut Wednesday on a whim at First Choice, I believe. I was a little hesitant on going, but it turned out good. The only thing that annoyed me was that she was talking about Brian Melo the entire time, which drove me nuts. You think she would have stopped talking when I told her I didn't care for him! My hair looks good though, but shorter than I've had it in a long time. It's about an inch above my shoulder and layered, and the hairdresser thinks that my colour is really cool. I've never had anyone tell me that before!

You got a stylist who worked on Brokeback and you can't remember ANY gossip?? Shame on you!!! haha And poor you having to hear about Melo the whole time...my dresser talked about Toronto the whole time but that was great for me because I had just come back and he gave me the scoop about which are the good places to go, of course it was too late cause I went to all the crappy ones instead!!!!
