This recipe sounds similar to Michelle's Chocote/Butterscotch Squares (they sound good...something to try sometime. )
Peanut Butter Crispies
Put into saucepan:
1 cup brown sugar, half a cup of corn syrup, half cup margarine
Bring to boil and boil 1 minute. Take off stove and add:
1 teaspoon vanilla, half cup of peanut butter
Pour mixture over 5 cups of rice crispies. (grease pan - 9x13x2)
If you put it in the refrigerator, it's hard as a rock. (which is the way I like it rather than gooey. )Especially THIS time of year...it really WOULD be a gooey mess! lol! It's alright to leave it out in cooler weather. My mother never puts in in the refrigerator.
YOUCH!! Now that sounds pretty unhealthy..lol at least with the regular ones you just get marshmallow vanilla and rice...lol Thanks for posting the thread though-I must admit that your recipe sounds great..could I substitue marshies instead of doing all that sugar and corn syrup?
It's not something I make or eat very often. I haven't made it in several years. My mother brought a batch down to the house maybe six months ago. It's very yummy and a great treat once in a while, but we don't have a steady diet of it.
Yeah same with me...we never make krispies so when I get them it is pretty rare to be honest!! That is why I was so darn excited to see them again after years...and the size alone is worth drooling over! lol
